Capitalism, Communism & the Domino theory

Capitalism and Communism

Communism is lead by a dictatorship Stalin is an example of a communist leader he didn't like capitalism as Stalin believed that wealth should be shared also everything is owned or controlled by the government such as the land and any profits a company make has to be spread around. They believe that everyone is equal and the same. Russia has different views to America as Russia wanted to take repariations from Germany but America wanted to help Germany and turn it into a wealthy democracy. The communsit state takes control of everything that goes of in that country only one party rules and anything the government says goes the public can vote but only between 2 members of the same party.

Capitalism is lead by a democracy such as Truman he was the American leader they hated communism and wanted to prevent other countries from turning communist everything is privately owned unlike communism whatever there people earn stays with them a capitalism country is seen as a wealthy country.

Ideology

A political ideology is "an orientation that characterizes the thinking of a group or nation" this is from http://wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=ideology

Cold War

The Cold War was between USA and Russia whoever won the war was allowed to take control of international affairs and major crisies the Cold war occured because America feared a communist attack also Russia and America disliked each other and Russia felt threatned by Americas atomic bomb America was worried as Russia kept invading other countries but USA wouldn't share any of its nuclear secrets with USSR. The cold war started in 1945.

"Hot War : this is actual warfare. All talks have failed and the armies are fighting.

Warm War :

this is where talks are still going on and there would always be a chance of a peaceful outcome but armies, navies etc. are being fully mobilised and war plans are being put into operation ready for the command to fight.

Cold War :

this term is used to describe the relationship between America and the Soviet Union 1945 to 1980. Neither side ever fought the other - the consequences would be too appalling - but they did ‘fight’ for their beliefs using client states who fought for their beliefs on their behalf e.g. South Vietnam was anticommunist and was supplied by America during the war while North Vietnam was pro-Communist and fought the south (and the Americans) using weapons from communist Russia or communist China. In Afghanistan, the Americans supplied the rebel Afghans after the Soviet Union invaded in 1979 while they never physically involved themselves thus avoiding a direct clash with the Soviet Union."

The Domino theory

The Domino theory is show in this image the capitalists believed the communists were bad and they thought that the countries shown in the diagram would become communist as the communists were pushing them. The countries are stood up right this suggests that they are capitalist countries at the moment and when they've been knocked down they are turned into communist countries. This image is supporting capitalism as it is show as the more civilised way to be while being a communist country is shown in the image as been down on the floor so its not seen as the best way to be.

    Economic effects of the war

The war mean't that more people had to work in the munition factories this mean't that other jobs were put on hold, petrol had to be rationed they were short of workers as nearly every man was fighting in the war when the men came back from the war work was disrupted again. The government had to take control of the econmy they were in charge of deciding who worked where and sorting out trade and trains. Most countries got into debt the UK borrowed a huge amount of money from America and became in to debt. Also men had to work in mines some factories were destroyed in 1945. More homes had to built after the war as most were bombed.

    Social effects

Homes were destroyed places were bombed also many people had died in the war. Women had a more important role in WW2 than in WW1 they became nurses in the armed forces technicians and clerks they even took over the mens jobs on farms and factories. Germany and Korea were divided into communist and non communist areas.

    Political effects

After the war Hitler killed himself and Germany was left without a leader so it was split up into 4 zones by victorious powers until they found a more permanent leader for Germany. Japan was in ruins from bombs its leaders were covicted of war crimes it was placed under the US military rule. England and France no longer were seen as powerful as the US and the Soviet Union. The united nations was finally discovered

    Collaborative essay's

This is a essay about Neville Chamberlain
a.Neville Chamberlaine has been accused of being directly responsible for the 2nd World War. Would you agree that he is guilty of this?

            Plan

    •  Reasons he was to blame: appeasement
    • Reasons he wasn't to blame

Many people have thought that Neville Chamberlaine's idea of appeasement was the cause for WW2. Appeasement was when Britain and France gave Hitler countries in hope that he wouldn't take any other countries. The problem was Hitler kept demanding more and more countries but Britain never tried to stop him.

Neville Chamberlain was to blame for WW2 because he was to much of a coward to stand up to Hitler so he just gave into him rather than cause another war this gave Hitler more power as he thought he could do what he wanted also Neville Chamberlains idea of appeasement was to blame because this gave Hitler the chance to take advantage of other countries also he never took the appeasement seriously and Hitler knew that Neville Chamberlain wouldn't stop him from doing what he wanted as he would just tell him off and not take any actionit made Britain look like a joke and hardly any country took britain seriously after the appeasement especially Germany. Neville Chamberlain gave Hitler time to re-arm Germany and make the country more powerful again this is why the second world war broke out because Neville Chamberlain wasn't ready to take responsiblity and sort Germany out so he gave into Hitler.

Neville Chamberlain wasn't to blame for WW2 because he did the best he could at the time because he knew no one wanted another war because most countries were only just sorting themselves out after WW1. Also Neville Chamberlain like many people thought Hitler was a normal politician who was up giving in but they were all wrong about him also most people felt sorry for Germany after the way they had been treated in the treaty of versailles and Neville Chamberlain was giving Germany a second chance. Appeasement was a good idea because it mean't that problems could be solved without violence.

In my opinion i think Neville Chamberlain was mostly to blame for WW2 but he wasn't the only reason because although he gave Hitler time to re-arm because of the appeasement and he also gave Hitler time to become more powerful and make germany more powerful to but he wasn't just to blame because Hitler was a Facists so he would have caused a war no matter what Neville Chamberlain said or did to prevent war.

This is a essay about the Nazi soviet pact

Some have said that the Nazi-Soviet Pact was the single most important reason for the start of the Second World War. Would you agree with this judgement? Explain your answer.

     Plan
    • Stalin leader of russia soviet union
    • Hitler leader of germany nazi party
    • Stalin was scared that hitler would invade russia
    • Also stalin thought that britain would leave russia to fight germany alone
    • no one trusted germany and stalin thought it would be the best way to solve problems
    • explain reasons why it wasnt to blame , other reasons to blame e.g.  appeasement
    • explain reasons why it was to blame
    • sum it up

The Nazi Soviet pact might have not been to blame for WW2 because  there were other causes for WW2. Neville Chamberlaines idea for Appeasement was thought to have caused WW2 because Britain and France allowed Hitler to take countries such as Czechoslovakia and never attempted to stop him. Britain and France were both scared of another war so they both wanted to try and keep Hitler happy but instead it lead to WW2. By giving Hitler these countries they were breaking terms of the Treaty of Versailles which said to Hitler he could keep demanding.  When Hitler invaded Czechoslovakia Britain and France realised Appeasement wasn't going to work.  Some views on Appeasment were Traditonal in 1990/50 e.g. Cato, they thought that it was a terrible idea. The revisionist in 1950's e.g. AJP Taylor, thought it was the only thing which could have been done. The Counter Revisionist in 1990's e.g. McDonough, thought that it was the only option but wasn't done well.

The Nazi-Soviet Pact may have been to blame for WW2 because Neville Chamberlain didn't trust Joseph Stalin and Stalin thought Britain wanted to trick Russia into another war with Germany, so neither of the leaders trusted each other. Also Poland didn't beleive that Russian troops would leave once there but Britain was unable to send troops into Poland so Russian troops would have to go and fight in Poland for Russia but Hitler promised Stalin peace and half of Poland. Stalin thought that after Appeasement Britain was weak as they always stepped back and didn't try to stop Hitler so he thought that Briain would leave Russia to fight Hitler on their own. Stalin could either join with either Britain and fight against Hitler or join Germany and  have time to re-arm giving them time to get ready for a war against Germany. Stalin joined with Hitler because it gave them time to build their army and he didn't trust Chamberlain. One problem with this was that Hitler knew if he got Russia to promise him peace Britain wouldn't be able to defend Poland and Hitler would be able to invade.  When Hitler did invade Poland Britain declared war on Germany on 3rd September.
I dont't think that the Nazi-soviet Pact was the only cause of WW2. I think that along with the Nazi-soviet Pact there were other vital causes such as Appeasement. Appeasement gave Hitler the idea he could get away with invading countries and the Nazi- Soviet Pact lead to him invading Czechoslovakia and Britain finally decided to do something about it.

    The manchurian crisis

    Poster_of_manchurian_crisis

After the war Japan was seen as the most important power in Asia but when the depression began Japan was struggling to feed its growing population. Japan needed more room and they thought they invading another country would provide them with the resources they needed the south manchurian railways was blown up and Japan blamed China now the Japanese had a good reason to invade Manchuria, the league disagreed with Japan as they thought they shouldn't invade China so Japan left the league and invaded Manchuria anyway as they thought they would get cheap resources.

Japan refused to leave Manchuria and the league didn't do anything to punish them as they didn't want to start a war so the Japanese stayed in China and the league was useless to stop it this made the league look bad.

For more information i have added the links below

    The wall street crash.

This diagram means that America wasn't making alot of money so there companies became bust this caused lots of unemployment and America had to raise taxes on imports to protect American companies from cheap imports. Other countries can no longer afford to buy American goods so the prices fall and this causes other countries to become poorer. The USA stop importing goods from other countries so they don't make any money and they become poorer as the prices fall. Also the USA stop giving loans to other countries so they become poorer.

The wall street crash effected the League of nations because the wall street crash caused the great depression this made it harder for the league as they had depended on goodwill and in the 1930s countries became more tense and there was more conflict between nations because they found it hard to cope with the effects of the crash. The league wasn't successful at trying to regain peace this was another reason world war two occured.
